Egypt: Muslim Brotherhood Gains Ground

With Democracy like this, who needs Autocracy? Muslim Brotherhood gains more voting ground

Alexandria, Egypt - Egyptian police detained over 270 Muslim Brotherhood supporters and restricted voting on Saturday, day four of elections in which Islamists have made a strong showing, the Brotherhood and witnesses said.

In the Nile Delta village of Hayatim, men with machetes and clubs attacked Brotherhood organisers outside polling stations, helping to frighten off people who wanted to vote in the parliamentary elections, witnesses and election monitors said.

Police picked up about 59 Brotherhood organisers in dawn raids in Alexandria before voting started, security sources said. A Brotherhood spokesperson said the number detained stood at 274, mostly in Alexandria, the Nile Delta and Port Said.

Let me say this again, in case I haven't made myself clear: The enemy is not "Islamism", it is not "lack of freedom", it is not "extremism". Islam itself is the enemy.
