UK: Muslim Peer Criticises "Contradictions" Of Islam
The Labour Peer (Member of the House of Lords), Waheed Alli, has openly attacked Islam at a lecture called "Islam, the Third Way", held at the Canadian Embassy in London on Monday night, according to Blink.org.
Alli (pictured) called Islamic clerics "intellectually lazy" and asked for a "radical democratisation of Islam". This was the first time the 41-year old peer has spoken openly about Islam, and he certainly riled one or two people attending the lecture. Alli criticised "Muslim reluctance to tackle contradictions in Islam" and said the religion should be reconciled with the modern world, rather than the values of the 7th century.
He said: "The problem lies in the Quran itself. There are contradictions in Quran; we have to stop avoiding them. If you find the Hadith literally, you can kill and maim as many people you can. If you use Quran as literal text, you can stone a woman who has been raped and in Iran, two boys were hung up for being gay."
Lord Alli is openly gay himself. He continued: "In a Muslim country, I as a gay man, should be able to go to Sharia law for protection, Sharia law should be a source of protection not oppression."
He called for a "Third Way", i.e. a democratisation of Islam. "We have to take individual responsibility for action, collective responsibility for our religion. We are today at a crossroads - modern values in Islam against orthodox values in Islam, this century will be defined by this conflict - conflict of values."
One woman in the audience wearing a hijab heckled back, saying he was misreading the Koran and that Islam guaranteed rights for women. Another said "I'm angry, I think he's got it wrong."
From my position, he has got it spot-on, and gets top marks for honesty, and bravery for being open in an area few people dare to tread.
Waheed Alli is a TV producer, born in 1964, who at the age of 34 became the youngest and first openly gay peer in Parliament. Now he has broken the UK silence surrounding the appalling aspects of Islam and its treatment of minorities, hopefully more people in Britain will feel more relaxed about openly saying how they feel about Islam.

Western resistance? Resistance to what force? What is your header about? The castle is recognisable, but the landscape looks like none I've ever seen. Is this what it appears to be, a fantasy? Is it a fantasy that you are defending, perchance?

Well, smartass, at least we have a header, unlike your website.
It is just an illustration, and if you bothered to read our "About" page, which has an icon called a "button" on the main page, then you would understand that we are resisting not only the ideological spread of Islam, but also the culture of media dhimmitude which still maintains the lie that "Islam is a Religon of Peace."
I suggest if you do not like our banner, you could come up with something better, or are you one of those who, to paraphrase Shaw, criticise but cannot "do"?
I suggest you redesign our banner in any medium of your choosing, click the thing called a "button" with the word "Contact" on it, and send your artwork as an attachment.
We will be looking forward to seeing it.
ps - don't expect to get paid for your non-fantastical artwork, mate.
