Thailand: Suspected Islamists Kill Two Muslims in Narathiwat

The Khaleej Times reports that in the southern province of Narathiwat, two people have been killed by suspected Islamists.

In the district of Cho Ai Rong 41-year old Anwar Jeahma, a Muslim villager, was gunned down in front of a tea shop late on Thursday.

While returning from work, another Muslim, 47-year old Mahase Tayae, was shot four times in the head. Tayae was a ranger in Sungai Padi district.

We reported the massacre of an entire Muslim family of nine, who were gunned down in Gra Thong village in Narathiwat on the night of Tuesday 15 November. Khaleej Times states that the male head of that household had formerly been a militant.

The Thai authorities now claim that the attack had happened as a warning to other Islamist militants who may choose to defect.
