India: Leftist Parties Want Congress to Vote Against the U.S.
Once again, leftist parties would rather have a nuclear-armed Iran, than watch the United States obtain a diplomatic victory. How can some people be so blind? Oh, that's right; ideology: Iran vote: Left warns UPA govt
The Left parties continue to warn the Congress led UPA Government of serious consequences if it went ahead and voted against Iran on the nuclear issue.The front has said that such a stand will amount to surrendering India's independent foreign policy before the United States.
CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat and CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan have reiterated the ultimatum to the UPA government saying it should make its stand clear before November 24.
Both the leaders are both in Thiruvananthapuram in connection with the campaigning for Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha.
Bardhan issued a stern warning to the UPA government. He said the government "will have to repent" if India repeated the vote against Iran at the meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
"If India voted against Iran again, the Left and like-minded parties like Samajwadi Party would meet the next day to decide on what steps to be taken on the matter," he added.
