UK: The Queen Is An Enemy of Islam Says Al-Qaeda

The British Queen, Elizabeth II, has been named in a 27-minute video from al-Qaeda as "one of the severest enemies of Islam", states the Sunday Times. The video, parts of which have been shown on Al Jazeera TV, carries a statement by Ayman al-Zawahiri, the second in command of al-Qaeda, in which he states that her Majesty is ultimately responsible for the UK's "crusader laws".

The previously shown parts of the video have shown Mohammed Siddique Khan making his "farewell video", but also contains sections where Khan urges British Muslims to ignore "moderate" leaders and to seek jihad and martyrdom.

The condemnation of the Queen, who is only a figurehead in Britain's legal constitution, is seen as a direct threat against her. Her protection team have been warned and are taking extra precautions.

The entire video can be found on the jihadist site run from Britain, called Tajdeed, which is maintained by Mohammed al-Massari. Al-Massari fled from Saudi Arabia to seek asylum in the Uk, for his views were perceived to be too extreme even for the Saudis. The Sunday Times also states that the video is being shown on jihadist sites in the Middle East.

The newspaper also states that as well as listing the queen as an enemy of Islam, al-Zawahiri also criticised "those who issue fatwas, according to the school of thought of the head of the Church of England". Al-Zawahiri here appears to be referring to the "moderates" who obey her laws.
