Russia: Muslim Leader "Explains" French Riots

According to today's Interfax, the Russian Mufti, Muhammedgali Khuzin has given his two cents' worth to the debate on the French rioting. Khuzin, who is Chairman of the Russian Central Moslem Department's Executive Committee, said that the riots had been inevitable, as they were caused by poorly considered policies towards Islam and also radical and extremist organisations. He blamed European political leaders for hoping to "reach an agreement with extremists and ensure relative tranquility in their countries.

Mufti Khuzin cites Britain where "asylum" is given to terrorists (true), and says that colonial policies in Africa, the Persian Gulf, India and Pakistan had robbed the people and made them paupers.Hmm...

His words seem more sincere than two other politicians mentioned today by Interfax. Vladimir Zhirinovsky of the Liberal Democratic Party, and vice-speaker in the Duma (parliament), said that the riots in Paris were being led by secret services, deliberately to ensure that in the 2007 elections, a pro-American President gets into power. Hmm...

Another politician to chip in is Gennady Zyuganov, the leader of the Communist party, who warned that similar riots could easily happen in Russia. he said that the French riots were caused by immigrant's being unable to adapt to the mainstream French culture, and through envy and impatience, wanted what the wealthier citizens had. He said that in Russia ethnic and religious hatreds were being provoked by the Russian authorities, fanning hatred between Russian nationals, between members of ethnic groups and religious communities.

"The poverty, pitiable living conditions and hopelessness of millions of Russians whose confidence in a prosperous future the government has stolen constitute the perfect environment in which even one spark could set everything aflame", stated Zyuganov.

Hmmmmm....
