Pakistan: Six Islamists Killed in Accidental Suicide Bombing
In the village of Mosaki, in the North Waziristan region of Pakistan in the North West Frontier Province, an explosion occurred a suspected Islamist militant compound, killing at least five men and one woman, according to Canoe News.
The information came from army officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, because under the Musharraf dictatorship, no military personnel are allowed to speak to press.
Four of the dead are believed to be foreigners, but no information was available as to whether or not they were Al Qaeda or Taliban. Hundreds of Arab, Afghan and Central Asian militants are believed to hide out in the North West Frontier Province, which borders Afghanistan.
One unnamed military source stated that there were six men and one woman killed in the blast at the compound, with a local tribesman among the dead.
The residents from Mosaki village claimed the militants were Arabs, and had rented the compound, in which they had stayed for several months.
The blast is thought to have happened accidentally, by mishandling of explosives.
