Israel: Islamic Jihad Agrees to Suspend Rocket Attacks
Earlier today, Islamic Jihad agreed to stop firing rockets at Israel from the Gaza Strip, as long as there were no further air raids on the region from Israel, Reuters AlertNet reports.
The deal was reached between the Palestinian Authority and the Islamist terror group, in a measure to halt the worst violence seen in the region since a truce was called nine months ago.
Khaled al-Batsch, one of the senior heirarchy at Islamic Jihad, has said that if "the enemy" stops its attacks, "our commitment to calm will be maintained".
Since Saturday, there has been no rocket fire nor air raids. However, Islamic Jihad did not promise to stop suicide attacks, like the one on Wednesday in Hadera, which killed five Israelis.
