Israel: Counter-Offensive Against Islamic Jihad

Last night, two Islamic Jihad terrorists were arrested by IDF soldiers in Kabatia, south of Jenin, and two more in Tulkarem. Hamas operatives were taken in Hevron and also Yatah, south of Hevron. Further arrests were made in Anza, south of Jenin, according to Arutz Sheva. In all eleven suspected terrorists were detained in the Judea and Samaria regions.

According to CanadaEast, the Israeli army is going to launch a wide-ranging offensive against Islamic Jihad, following yesterday's suicide attack in Hadera market. Earlier today, Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon stated "Unfortunately the Palestinian Authority has not taken any serious action to battle terrorism. We will not accept under any circumstances a continuation of terrorism. Therefore our activities will be broad and nonstop until they halt terrorism."

PM Sharon and his defence minister Shaul Mofaz had overnight decided that Islamic Jihad were to be the focus of their current operations against terror and insurgence, according to foreign ministry spokesman, Mark Regev. The offensive will not have a time limit, and will continue until the group is eliminated or the Palestinian Authority (PA) takes steps to act against them, he claimed.
