Iraq: Two Al-Qaeda Islamists Killed by US

News from Reuters. Two al-Qaeda members have been killed in Iraq according to the US military. One of these was leader of a cell, who is accused of performing at least three video-recorded decapitations. He was killed in a house raid in Mosul on Saturday. The other was killed on Wednesday, and has been named as Abu Du'a. He is thought to have been killled in an air strike at Qam, western Iraq.

He was in a house when it was demolished. His body has not been recovered yet. Abu Du'a helped Syrians and Saudis to enter the country to kill and intimidate Iraqi citizens.

The cell leader slain on Saturday at Mosul is Abu Tayir or Abu Zaid, a senior operational al-Qaeda cell leader. He operated locally around Mosul. He has personal involvement with the decapitations of three Mosul citizens, in killings which were videotaped to then be used to intimidate other citizens of Mosul.

In other sadder news, the US death toll is now at the 2000 mark.
