Britain: Banks Withdraw Piggy Banks To Avoid Muslim Offence

In an instance of political correctness run amok, two of Britain's largest high street banks have decided to outlaw piggy banks and their images from their advertising and high street outlets, according to Australian press reports. The Age quotes Salim Mulla, secretary of the Lancashire Council of Mosques, who says: "This is a sensitive issue and I think the banks are simply being courteous to their customers."

The Dean of Blackburn has stated that "The next thing we will be banning Christmas trees and cribs and the logical result of that process is a bland uniformity".

Even a Labour Muslim MP has criticised the ban. "We live in a multicultural society and the traditions and symbols of one community should not be obliterated just to accommodate another" stated Khalid Mahmoud, MP for Birmingham. "I doubt many Muslims would be offended by piggy banks."

The Australian Daily Telegraph carries the same report. The two UK banks involved are the National Westminster, or Natwest, and the Halifax.

What is so offensive about this is that is a move done without reports of any claims from Muslims that they are upset, as was the case in the Dudley Council ban, which appears to be earmarked for removal soon.

The banking industry in Britain was founded with money from the Rothschilds. Jews have lived in Britain in communities with their own synagogues since the time of Oliver Cromwell, a lot longer than Muslims. Why pander to assumed Muslim "sensibilities" now? What about Jewish customers, who have used UK banks for a longer period? Why did no-one think of their feelings? Jews avoid pork, and their religion has banned pork-eating for a thousand years longer than the Muslim faith. Maybe because Jews in Britain are well-adjusted folk who live and let live. Or maybe the fools at the UK banks are not scared of offending Jews, but are fearful of Muslims?

Rabbis in Israel in 2003 even approved a plan to have "guard pigs", trained to protect settlements in the West Bank, according to the BBC. This involved real-life pigs, which poo. So why is an image of a piggy-bank deemed so offensive to Muslims?

For some reason, this story has not appeared in the UK press, apart from the Star, and that is more of a comic (pictured). When the story does appear in the mainstream, I hope people will protest, and threaten to transfer their custom to banks which are not so lily-livered and apologetic about British culture.
