Israel: Palestinian Killed in Tulkarem, Islamists Arrested
A breaking report from Le Monde. A Palestinian has been killed by Israeli gunfire during a confrontation on Sunday night at Tulkarem, in the north of the West Bank, according to Palestinian hospital and security sources
The man whose identity has not been given died in an exchange of gunfire with soldiers who encircled the house he was found in, according to them. An Israeli militaru spokesman confirmed the information, specifying that one soldier had been wounded, though not seriously, by the Palestinian.
This brings to 4852 the number of people killed since the commencement of the Intifada, at the end of September 2000, of whom the great majority have been Palestinian and more than 1000 Israelis.
Arutz Sheva announced that on the night of Saturday/Sunday, IDF troops from counter-terror operations in Judaea and Samaric arrested 23 Islamists. Eleven Hamas terrorists were taken in the Hevron area. Eight arrests were made in the Bilin area in Ramallah district, and four were apprehended near bethlehem, including members of Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
