US: Fifth "Islamist Suspect" Detained in Tunnel Inquiry
A fifth man has been held in the investigation following on from Tuesday's terror alert, which saw the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel fully closed and the Fort McHenry Tunnel partially closed. News 24 states that Maged Hussain, who owns a Boston market which was raided on Tuesday, has been taken into custody on handgun charges.
The other four men, who were detained on immigration charges on Tuesday, pursuant to investigations into the threat, will be deported.
One of these, 30-year old Mohammed Ahmed Mohamady Ismail, was mentioned in a tip-off about a bomb threat to the tunnels, which came from an individual who is in custody in the Netherlands. The threat had been to have vehicles laden with explosives enter one of the tunnels, and to then be detonated.
Ismail is Egyptian, as is Suied Mohamad-Ahamad, 25, and Mohamed Mohamed-Abdelhamed, 38. Ahmad Al Momani, aged 58, is from Jordan. Mark Bastan, a special agent in charge at immigration and customs enforcement, said that all four had not turned up for deportation proceedings.
