Bangladesh: Islamist Threat Against Jails
The banned Islamist group Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) has written a letter in Arabic and Bangla to the Superintendent of Tangail District Jail, Shamsul Alam Bhuiyan. The letter contained a threat to blow up the Tangail District Jail in seven days' time, if police did not desist from making arrests of or detaining JMB activists.
According to the Daily Star, the threat is being taken seriously, and all jails are now being asked to retain a high state of vigilance. Prison guards have been asked to strengthen security measures and to check all prisoners when they return from the courts.
A JMB activist has hurled a bomb at a judge, and is now being moved to Osmani Medical College and Hospital from Sylhet Jail as his condition has deteriorated.
The latest bomb involving the judiciary happened on Wednesday evening. The Bangladesh Independent reports that Biplob Goswami, the Divisional speedy tribunal judge at Sylhet was returning home from his day at court when Akhter Hossain threw a bomb. The judge was not seriously hurt, but a group of people chased and beat up Hossain, which accounts for his current medical condition. According to one report, Akhter Hossain confessed while in hospital to being a follower of Sheikh Abdur Rahman, the head of JMB. It is claimed that Rahman gave Akhter Hossain a sum of money as an inducement to hurl his bomb at the judge.

Government shuold take necessary steps to prevent such actions made by the so called Islamist Groups. It is to be noted that Islam is a religion of Peace and Mankind, so things which are happening by the name of Islam is not the original Islamic approach. Muslims as well as people of other religions must have a clear concept about the correct approach of Islam.
