UK: Islamic Holy Water is Fake
A report from BBC announces that Muslims in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, are being conned. Bottles of Zam Zam water are being marketed in the region, but they aren't the real thing. Trading standards officers have found that the fake holy water, sold as "Natural Zam Zam Water", and comes in half-litre and quarter-litre plastic bottles is also very unhealthy.
The fake Zam Zam water contains levels of nitrates beyond the acceptable legal limits for natural mineral water, spring water and bottled drinking water. It also contained, in one instance, arsenic.
The original Zam Zam water features in Islamic belief - Gabriel filled the Prophet's chest with it, and it comes from a spring in Saudi Arabia. Saudi authorities have refused to allow it to be sold or commercially distributed anywhere outside its origins. Pilgrims drink the water on Haj.
Zam Zam water is not to be confused with Iran's "Islamic" cola drink - "Zam Zam Cola".

I gave Zam-zam water to Allah's Apostle and he drank it while standing. 'Asia (a sub-narrator) said that 'Ikrima took the oath that on that day the Prophet had not been standing but riding a camel.
