Spain: Ibero-American Assault on Language
The ending of the 15th Ibero-American summit has ended with a victory for Fidel Castro (pictured left) and a defeat for the English language. The Ibero-American leaders have taken a resolution condemming the 'blockade' the United States maintains against Cuba.
My question, of course, is this: where are the ships enforcing the embargo? A blockade is: "The isolation of a nation, area, city, or harbor by hostile ships or forces in order to prevent the entrance and exit of traffic and commerce."
While what the United States maintains agains Cuba is called an economic embargo: "A prohibition by a government on certain or all trade with a foreign nation."
The Ibero-American so-called leaders who voted for this resolution, such as Mexico's Vicente Fox deserve ridicule. They have perverted the English (and Spanish) language with this travesty, all in an effort to please Castro. Shame on them for bowing to the will of the bearded dictator.
