A story today from Nes.Com.Au reports that in Mayo district, in the southern Thai province of Pattani, the headless body of a 66-year old Buddhist, Song Fangpetch was discovered in Mayo district. He is the 15th decapitation victim in 21 months of factional unrest. Song had been taking his cattle to a field in the nearby district of Panare.

The superintendent of Mayo police, Colonel Wanchai Piemsomboon, stated that a note had been left on the body. The note read "As long as you continue to kill innocent people, we will kill your innocent people." The superintendent added "We are searching for his head now."

In the neighbouring province of Narathiwat, two gunmen on a motorcycle shot electricity worker Saroj Sopin twice in the village of Sunga, in Padi district. The local superintendent of police stated that the electricity firm were often the targets of Islamists.

In another incident a fruit trader visiting from Bangkok was shot dead yesterday evening in Sala village, in the Russo district of Narathiwat province. 43-year old Nathawut Sujit was buying fruit when two gunmen suspected to be Islamists, shot him dead.
