Iraq: Ansar al-Sunnah Admits Attacking US Troops

In a report from the SITE Institute (Search for International Terrorist Entities), four communiques issued yesterday by Ansar al-Sunnah reveal their complicity in bombing operations carried out against US troops in Mosul, al-Khalidya, Kirkuk and Heet.

According to the third message, two IEDs (improvised explosive devices) were detonated in two separate operations on American vehicles in Kirkuk on Monday, October 3, 2005: one in Safra and the other in al-Sayed Hamid. Also, the same day, the group blew up a "stolen oil pipeline" of the American forces.

Ansar al Sunnah have recently been put on a list of organisations proscribed by the UK government.
