Afghanistan: Five Aid Workers Murdered by the Taliban

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Oct. 12 - Amid a resurgence in violence five medical aid workers were shot dead by suspected Taliban insurgents in southern Afghanistan today and two rockets exploded in the capital Kabul, news agencies reported.The relief workers, employees of the local aid group Afghan Help Development Services, were returning to the southern city of Kandahar from a nearby refugee camp when gunmen opened fire on them, Abdul Qadir, the director of the United Nations-sponsored aid organization told The Associated Press. Two doctors, two nurses and a driver died and three others were wounded, the news agency reported.
