Iraq: Al Zarqawi States That Islam Permits Killing of Infidels
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, leader of "Al Qaeda in Iraq", (also called "Al-Qaeda Group of Jihad in the Land of Two Rivers"), responsible for untold murders of servicemen, civilians, and foreign contractors, has made an announcement on the Internet, according to Manorama, in which he justifies the killng of infidel civilians.
"In Islam, making the difference is not based on civilians and military, but on the basis of Muslims and infidels," said the voice attributed to the fugitive leader who has a $25million price on his head. "The Muslim's blood cannot be spilled whatever his work or place, while spilling the blood of the infidel, whatever his work or place, is authorised if he is not trustworthy," said the tape, whose veracity could not be determined.Apparently this comes a day after a letter was intercepted by US officials, sent to al-Zarqawi by the Second in Command of Al Qaeda, former eye-surgeon, the Egyptian born Ayman Zawahiri. In this letter, Ayman Zawahiri raised concerns about the impact on Arab opinion that videotaped executions were having.
It appears that the Jordanian-born Sunni Muslim al-Zarqawi is referring in the statement from the two passages below, from the Koran (Shakir's translation), in the chapter "Women":They desire that you should disbelieve as they have disbelieved, so that you might be (all) alike; therefore take not from among them friends until they fly (their homes) in Allah's way; but if they turn back, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them, and take not from among them a friend or a helper. 4:89
You will find others who desire that they should be safe from you and secure from their own people; as often as they are sent back to the mischief they get thrown into it headlong; therefore if they do not withdraw from you, and (do not) offer you peace and restrain their hands, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them; and against these We have given you a clear authority. 4:91Al-Zarqawi's videotaped executions are disgusting. I have seen three in all, and would not wish to see another. Maybe in his zealousness, al-Zarqawi is scoring an own goal against his savage interpretation of Islam.
