Commentary on Bush's Speech Before the National Endowment for Democracy
First, the bad news. President Bush still peddles the false dichotomy between Islam and Militant Islam. Against all evidence, he still refers to Islam as a peaceful religion. He still wants Democracy to achieve too much. (Democracy is not the cause, but the result of a culture of Liberty.)
But the speech is a cause for celebration. President Bush has at least started refering to the ideology of our enemies as "Islamic radicalism", "militant jihadism", or "Islamo-fascism", a rethorical shift towards the truth. He has also expressed without equivocation our will to defeat the worldwide Jihad.
It is not all that is needed, but a considerable improvement. The whole speech can be read here: Bush's Speech
