Pakistan: Islamic Revolution After Eid-ul-Fitr

In a report today from Pakistan Tribune, the man shown left, impersonating a garden gnome, has threatened to bring on an Islamic revolution and overthrow the Musharraf government. The 67-year old is Sheikh Qazi Hussain Ahmad, president of Jamaat-e-Islami, who was addressing a group of religious leaders at Aza Khel, Nowshera. He said the country would soon "rid of the shameful American culture of vulgarity , unemployment, graft and bribery, lawlessness prevailing under the Musharraf regime."

425 councillors and representatives attended the meeting, male and female included, with representatives of the Islamist Al-Khidmat group. Born in 1938, he is described on his website as having a "knowledge of the sacred and the mundane."

His love for poetry particularly of Iqbal makes him a unique leader among the religious and political circles. Apart from thorough command over Pushto, Urdu and English he has considerable proficiency in, Arabic and Persian.

Being a family man Qazi Sahib has four children and treats his children and wife with dignity, love and affection.

If his home life is so happy, why does he look in his photograph is if he has swallowed a wasp?
