BALI: Islamists Claim Blasts Were Not Caused by Muslims
In a report by Australia's News.com,Fauzan Al Anshari, who is the spokesman for extreme Islamist organisation Majelis Mujahadin Indonesia (Indonesia Council of Holy Warriors) has stated that the blasts were not the work of local Muslims. Instead, he claims that they were part of a plot by unnamed countries to implicate his organisation's leader, Abu Bakar Bashir. Bashir is in jail at present, serving a 30 month sentence for his involvement with the 2002 bombings that killed 202 people in Kuta, Bali, 88 of whom were Australians. He is pictured here, at his trial.
The Jakarta spokesman for MMI, Hasyim Abdullah, said the organisations followers, who regularly turn out to support people accused in terror trials, has said that automatic blame will fall upon Abu Bakar Bashir.
