Algeria: Amnesty Rejected by Islamists

In news released 30 minutes ago from Reuters, a statement has appeared on the internet claiming to come from the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat or GSPC. The largest of the outlawed Islamist groups in Algeria, with claimed links to al Qaeda, the GSPC has apparently denounced the 29 September referendum, described below. The referendum had called for an amnesty for the outlawed groups who have killed between 100,000 and 150,000 in the past decade. On 27 September, the GSPC had stated that Algeria did not need a charter for reconciliation, but a "charter for Islam."

The internet statement claimed

"The Jihad will go on ... we have promised God to continue the Jihad and the combat," said Abou Mossab Abdelouadoud, whose real name is Abdelmalek Droukdel.

If the statement, which has so far not been verified, is authentically from the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat, then it proves one thing. In issues of radical Islam, appeasement will never work. The entire referendum was an act of appeasement. The Islamic jihadists will never be stopped, until they have taken over the whole world. Unless they are stopped first.
