Saudi Arabia: Former Junkies Become Saudi Imams
From Qatar's The Peninsular: A number of reformed drug addicts have become imams in Saudi Arabia. In Doha, a visiting scholar, Sheikh Ibrahim Al Talha, has been specifically invited by local drug-enforcement agencies from neighbouring Saudi Arabia to do his special work. He claims that he has become so popular in rehabilitation of addicts throughout the Arab world that much of his time was now taken up by travelling. Sheikh Al Talha (pictured) has now delivered anti-addiction lectures in Doha's central prison, and a mosque in Al Wakrah.
