UK: Woman "Mole" Held for Leaking Menezez Documents
We reported back in August of the leaked information of the Jean Charles de Menezez shooting incident, and the subsequent suspension of an individual from the Independent Police Complaints Commission, for leaking classified information to ITV News. At that time, Sir Ian Blair, head of the Metropolitan police, seemed keener to punish the person guilty of the leak than take any responsibility for the fiasco of lies and incompetence revealed in the leaked revelations.
Now, according to this morning's Observer, he seems to have got his way. Leicestershire Police Constabulary had been asked to investigate the leak, and have now arrested a 43-year old woman, whose identity has not been revealed. Neither the Independent Police Complaints Commission nor ITV news have agreed to give any information or opinions on the event.
