Switzerland Bars Islamist Preacher
In a report from Islam Online, an Islamic scholar has been banned from entering Switzerland. Egyptian-born Sheikh Wagdy Ghoneim, who has a Swiss visa, is said to raise funds for Palestinian terror group Hamas, has been arrested in Egypt, and is barred from entering the US. He was persuaded to leave California in December 2004. Ghoneim was due to attend a conference, the annual meeting of the League of Muslims in Switzerland. The head of LMS, Mohammad Karmous, has voiced his objections to the removal of Sheikh Ghoneim.
There are plans afoot to set up a federation of Swiss Islamic organisations, to unite the representatives of the country's 380,000 Muslims. We reported below on Switzerland's drive to become tougher with radical Islamists who come to the country.
