UK: Plans for a Royal Commission Against Radical Islam

In today's Guardian, it is announced that the taskforces set up by the UK government are to suggest a special Royal Commission to both investigate the causes and outcomes of the recent London bombings. They also suggest that there should be a media unit established, both to counter negative portrayals of Muslims in the media, and to combat extremist Islamic propaganda.

We have reported below on one of these taskforces, the "Working Group on Tackling Extremism", which includes both the anti-semite Inayat Bunglawala of the MCB, and also Tariq Ramadan, who though banned in France and the US, is to take up a Fellowship at Oxford University in October.

The first strange fruits of the 13-person "Working Group on Tackling Extremism" have already been leaked: they wish to have the Holocaust Memorial Day scrapped. There are six other taskforces, all with high numbers of Muslims, all set up under the tutelage of the Home Office, and all groups are due to officially present their findings next week, on Wednesday 22 September.

If agreed, the royal commission would be held in two parts: an initial examination of the bombings, followed by an exploration of wider issues, such as the role of foreign policy in radicalising the terrorists, and whether victims of the bombings received speedy and adequate financial compensation and support. The government has so far resisted the idea.

The groups all feel that British foreign policy, especially Mr Blair's support for the Iraq war, has fuelled resentment. One proposal is that Islamic schools, or madrasas should teach "citizenship" in an attempt to tackle the conflict some youngsters feel between being British and Muslim.

A Royal Commission investigation may not be a bad idea, but their suggestion of creating a monitoring centre seems pointless. In a report from the Times three days ago, UK Home Secretary Charles Clarke has already announced that MI5, one of Britain's two intelligence agencies, already have "hundreds" of radical Islamists under surveillance, in a joint operation with the police.

The current proposals by the taskforces also include the plan to set up a website, so that young Muslims can discover "mainstream" Islamic views on issues. Another pointless idea. One website is not going to change the mentality of people who are brought up in Britain to not integrate with the society at large. Enough already do not trust the government - they will not go to a government funded website to find out what they should be thinking.

We need much more dialogue. Why Islam can talk you to death. Seriously, just these descriptions, participants and the mental predisposition practically assure a dhimmified outcome. And those Islamists are working hard to get those laws against religious hate speech enacted. Sounds like it's going to be great for the Islamists.
