UK: The Muslim Boys - Case Dropped
From the Times this morning, the trial of the men accused of shooting Adrian Marriott has collapsed. The gang they belonged to, called the Muslim Boys, attempts to convert people forcibly to Islam.
Apparently new evidence from the police has emerged, and all three accused, Marcus Archer, Aaron Irving-Simpson and Marlon Stubbs, all 24, have been pronounced "not guilty", as the Prosecution offered no further evidence. However, due to a former arrest for possessing an illegal firearm, the leader of the three, Marcus Archer, has been jailed for eight years.
When he was arrested by armed police over the murder of Mr Marriott outside a mosque in Croydon in July last year, a loaded handgun was found in his pocket, Mr Kinch told the court.The BBC reported on the trial, before it was abandoned, and gave further details from the case.
Mr Kinch told the jury that after the station incident, Mr Stubbs rang Mr Marriot's sister Tara and said: "Your brother is a little tadpole. He just messed with a big shark, a whale."Marcus Archer will be allowed the possibility of parole in four years. While imprisoned, he will have ample time to convert people to his violent version of Islam.Mr Marriot had known Mr Archer for several years before he and Mr Stubbs began visiting the house he shared with Tara, David and their mother, Ruth, Mr Kinch added.
"They said they were interested in getting converts to Islam and among their targets for conversion were Adrian Marriot himself, his sister Tara and her friend Jade Okai.
"Whether what they said was actually true, that they had a missionary zeal to convert people, or whether that was more of a front for getting people under their circle of influence, is a question you may have to consider as you hear the evidence."
