UK to Deport Gay Iranian to Certain Death

Today's UK Observer carried a disturbing article about a homosexual Iranian asylum-seeker, who is already known to the Iranian authorities as gay. He fled Iran after being arrested by the authorities. The Iranian officials apparently had a video of him kissing another man.

The judge, John Freeman, used language more appropriate to the 1950's when he heard the man's case against deportation, and ordered that he should be sent back to Iran, where recently two teenagers have been executed for committing "homosexual acts". Another man was executed in the city of Arak on 16 August. Since Iran became an Islamic state in 1979, it has executed more than 4,000 homosexuals, according to Homan, an exiled gay rights group.

In the UK at least two gay asylum seekers are known to have committed suicide before being sent back to Iran. Hussein Nasseri, 26, was found dead from a gunshot wound in July - two weeks after his asylum claim was refused. Hussein, who was homosexual, fled from Iran in March 2000 after being imprisoned for three months for his sexuality. Friends said he feared he would be executed in Iran.

In September 2003, Israfil Shiri, a destitute Iranian asylum seeker, died six days after pouring petrol over his body and setting himself alight in the offices of a refugee charity in Manchester. He had fled Iran after the authorities obtained documented evidence of his sexuality.

The UK newspaper,The Daily Telegraph reported on Wednesday 17th August that the bearded "transvestite" pictured above, 22-year old Abdul Muhid, an alleged leading member of the pro-terrorist "Saviour Sect" was released from court after charges of inciting racial hatred against him were dropped. He was arrested at a stall in Walthamstow, North-East London, after he was heard to be calling for "British troops in Iraq to be killed and for homosexuals to be hurled from clifftops".

When will the UK's judiciary work out who are the true enemies of the state, harmless homosexuals or venom-spitting Islamists?
