Tell the Truth - Get Suspended

The person who is suspected of revealing the details of the Jean Charles de Menezez sordid police cover-up has been suspended, the Times reported today. The shocking revelations described below in British Police Lied About Shooting were first announced on ITV News.

The suspended individual is a clerk at the Independent Police Complaints Commission, and is thought to have links with people at Independent Television News. The IPCC was assembled 18 months ago, after serious doubts were raised about the efficiency of the investigation of complaints against the police by the police themselves.

The Menezez investigation, and its relevance to Operation Kratos, the "shoot to kill" policy of the Metropolitan police, is the largest operation so far handled by the IPCC.

The Times reported that Nick Hardwick, head of the IPCC, was asked on Wednesday by Sir Ian Blair to call in an outside police force to investigate the leaking of papers including officers' detailed statements, a pathology report and photographs.

Sir Ian Blair, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, seems in this case at least, to want justice to be done, i.e. justice against a man who told the truth while everyone around, Ian Blair included, lied to the media and the public.

It is a shame that this pompous self-serving Commissioner has so little humility and is still, it seems, trying to have the truth buried.
